PACT Photodynamic therapy
The Kew Foot Clinic has introduced PACT, an exciting new anti fungal (onychomycosis) nail treatment.
What is PACT?
PACT is a photodynamic fungal treatment that kills fungal and bacterial cells within toe nails without causing damage to heathy nail tissue.
How does PACT work?
PACT is a photodynamic therapy where a photosensitive gel is applied to the nail and a high intensity wavelength of light is used to produce an energy transfer and localized chemical effect. This treatment has been shown to effectively destroy fungal and bacteria microbes in the nail.
Why use PACT over other treatments?
Whilst there is currently many treatment options for fungal nails, the challenge of applying topical treatments regularly and concerns regarding adverse effects on taking oral anti fungal medication, along very expensive laser treatment with poor results has resulted in the introduction of PACT.
PACT has been developed in Germany and adapted over the last 4 years for the successful treatment of fungal nails without pain or any adverse reactions.
